DGAC (France) Publications on Non-Stabilised Approaches
DGAC (France) Publications on Non-Stabilised Approaches
Unstabilised approaches are a common causal factor in accidents and serious incidents which resulted in Loss of Control (LOC), Controlled Flight Into Terrain (CFIT), and Runway Excursion (RE).
The French Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGAC) has published 3 documents in English related to non-stabilised approaches:
"Unstabilised Approaches"
This publication provides guidance to ANSPs/controllers as well as Airlines/Pilots on steps which can be taken to reduce the likelihood of an unstable approach.
The publication also refers to a number of accidents and incidents which are also the subject of SKYbrary articles linked to English language versions of the official accident reports: A copy is available on the SKYbrary Bookshelf
"Synthesis on Unstabilised Approaches"
This BEA document contains an analysis of several accidents and serious incidents involving unstabilised approaches. A copy is available on the SKYbrary Bookshelf
"Stabilised Approaches Good Practice Guide"
A guide to good practice for both pilots and controllers. A copy is available on the SKYbrary Bookshelf
