Part II - The Costa Concordia Case: Introduction to the case

Overview

Part II of these webinar series is designed to set the scene for the workshop. After a short introduction to what motivated us to embark on this journey, we will spend time understanding the design and framework of the case study. Why did we chose to get involved in this study? What did we learn and what challenges did we face during the production stages of this documentary? How did we (or can we?) overcome our own biases and pre-concieved notions as practitioners undertaking this project? How did we manage to present a balanced view of the problem? How was our approach any different from usual accident investigations? These are some of the questions we will attempt to tackle as part of this session. Answering these questions, we believe, will provide a deeper understanding of being an investigator and a safety professional and learn about some of the challenges of existing investigations models and methods.
