Weak Signals in high-risk industries: Practical application [SAF-WS-APPL]
The notion of weak signals promoted by Resilience Engineering and reinforced by the theoretical underpinnings offered by knowledge management principles fosters the necessary study of adaptations and trade-offs. EUROCONTROL and partners developed SECA (Structured Exploration of Complex Adaptions) as a tool for capturing and codifying knowledge dynamically and continuously with the ultimate purpose of unearthing weak signals. SECA aims to support analysts to go beyond root cause analysis and linear decomposition of a work domain. It envisages the need to capture adaptations in practice, without the need for incidents or accidents to be the triggers of such analyses. This course provides practical guidance and hands-on experience on the usage and implementation of SECA to capture and analyse weak signals.
