This document is a report on the development of a Cognitive Model for Air Traffic Control (ATC) which has been contracted out to the Institute of Evaluation Research (Institut für Begleitforschung, IFB) by the Human Resources Domain of the European Air Traffic Harmonisation and Integration Programme (EATCHIP). It is intended to provide the reader with a basic understanding of the cognitive processes involved in ATC and will be useful to those involved in training, selection, automation, task analysis and job design for ATC.
