Human factors is traditionally not well integrated within systems design. The Human Factors Integration in Future ATM systems (HIFA) Project aims to redress this situation with respect to ATM projects. This report provides a comprehensive review of human factors methods and tools. A total of 39 ‘core' methods are identified and described. The main characteristics of each method (its aim, procedure, requirements, outputs) are covered along with its advantages and disadvantages. Some 72 supporting human factors tools are also listed and described briefly. An extensive list of information sources on the Internet is included.
