On 10 December 1998, the crew of a Delta airlines Boeing 767-300, which had been cleared for take-off on Rwy 24 at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, in low visibility conditions, observed a Boeing 747 being towed across the runway ahead of them. The take off was aborted and the aircraft brought to a halt before reaching the B747 which had also been cleared to cross the same runway.
