An article in the Airbus FAST magazine, issue 44, June 2009 describing the Brake-to-vacate system designed by Airbus to assist pilots in reaching the desired runway exit at the appropriate speed for vacating. The BTV system uses aircraft and airport data to dynamically calculate and automatically apply the necessary brake pressure in order to achieve smooth and timely deceleration. This leads to reduced runway occupancy times, increased airport capacity, reduced pilot workload and better passenger comfort.
