Abbreviated Precision Approach Path Indicator (APAPI)

Description

An APAPI consists of 2 light units located on the left side of a runway in the form of a wing bar. When the pilot is:

  • well above the approach slope, both units show white.
  • on or close to the approach slope, the unit nearest to the runway edge shows red and the unit farther away from the runway edge shows white.
  • below the approach slope, both units show red.
